I have a job.

Well most likely have a job it's not set in stone yet as I still need to be matched to a school but I've been approved as a Comenius assistant to help teach English in the EU.....

What exactly will the new job entail? I hope you're going to be doing something interesting as well as financially renumerative.

Financially it won't be brilliant and is dependent upon where in Europe I end up. The grant is smaller if I'm in Czechoslovakia for example than in France because the cost of living is smaller. It becomes worrying financially after the first 13 weeks when the amount of grant is reduced. It basically pays as though it were a part time job.
Potentially I could be helping to teach English to children (I stated 11-18 year olds) or since my degree is in history I could be helping in that department. It depends upon what the school wants to get out of the assistantship to an extent. http://www.britishcouncil.org/comenius-what-does-a-comenius-assistant-do.htm
Parents are understandably worried about the financial aspect, I'm worried but trying not to think about it even though I have to. As it currently stands I'm keeping my options open I don't have to accept a contract when they send me one although Ii more than likely will.

At your age, getting valuable experience is more important than earning lots of money. You just need to be sure the pay will cover your living expenses with a little bit left over to save.

This is very true and is basically how I'm looking at it. The best bit with pay is that it's worked out as a grant so I don't pay any tax on it. They also thankfully will pay so much towards a language course so that you can learn the language while working. The nice bit about working in the EU is also the fact that I don't have to worry about visa's or anything like that, and since I'll be working for the British Council not the actual school I don't have to pay taxes in the country I'll be in.
I'm not sure how much there will be to save, think I'll just have to wait and see in that regard, but being a student has definitely made me a bit of a scrooge with money. ;)

Not yet. :( Won't find out until end of May/June unfortunately. I'm hoping Germany, France or Belgium (which are the places I put down on the form, I'm praying not to end up in Eastern Europe not because I don't like Eastern Europe but because I'd prefer to be closer to home and my Russian is shocking at the minute) anywhere else and I'd be pretty stuffed languagewise.

Thank you! They really, really are! This one doesn't pay well (although well is of course dependent upon where you live) but it's experience all the same, and should be exciting. :D
