*pouts*
I'm supposed to be researching for an essay on: "Was England profoundly changed by the Norman Conquest?" and I can't stop researching about Edgar the Aetheling. :( Englands forgotten king who was in reality the heir chosen by the Witan to succeed Harold II when William won Hastings. So he was the uncrowned king. :( And damnit he was interesting! I want to research him not all this social/successional stuff after the Conquest. When the man who had no right to the English throne nicked it. Grrr!

In other news, we have food again! Bless you Tesco's deliveryman. :)

I also found Boasters cookies in the University supermarket. Yum! :D

I remember the cute little Atheling from history A1. :) Didn't he eventually give up on being King and go on crusade?

*nods* Yep. Then he came home because his niece was queen and got pardoned by his nephew-in-law and was given an estate all to himself. How's that for a home coming? Granted people couldn't even remember who he was... but hey, he faired better than some. :)

Wow, a whole estate instead of a country. Poor Edgar. I think he should have set up a rival state of Edgarland - although perhaps he valued his skin too much to try something like that.

*nods* If he wasn't dead I'd hug him. :p Edgarland, cute! I just think it's odd that he kept rebelling, had his land taken off him a couple of times (he ended up best-friends with the 'bastards' eldest son who gave him land in Normandy o_O) plotted against all of the Norman kings, was forgiven countless times, set his nephew up as King of Scotland, acted as an intermediary between England and Scotland, led armies, went on the first crusade and there's a rumour that he didn't die until the 1150's. :)
Plus, on technicality he did reign as King for a month and a bit, even issued proclamations. :D

Sorry have read far too much about him, it's not good.

o.O I am assuming they want more than an 'Yes what do you think!' for that assignment. Good luck with the assignment. I can fully sympathise with getting side tracked by the interesting characters during that period.

:D Just a little, got to compare sources talking of how bias they were this, that, and the other. :P

And thanks for the luck and the sympathy I feel I shall need both. :)

Speaking of kings, on a relatively unrelated subject, King Richard the Lionheart spent less than a year total in England and didn't see the importance of learning to speak English. :p

*hugs* Cold isn't fun. :(

Richard was a prat, I have no time for him at all.

*sniggers* Hmmm... not bucking the strange patriotic trend here am I? :D

*hugs back* Cold not fun, 'cos cold. *stares out the window* I think it's trying to snow. o_0 and I kid you not, it looks like really fine powder. o_0
